Bridging the gap between active play and kindergarten readiness, the Pre-School Sport Academy workshops, turns playtime into kindergarten preparation. The activities provide immediate developmental feedback to build essential school-ready skills.
the problem we solve
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends regular physical activity for all preschoolers. There are an estimated 17.6 million overweight children under age 5, obese or overweight. Our workshops align recreational activities with early childhood developmental standards.
14 workshops built for early learners
Our workshops include a series of 14 kindergarten-readiness skills aligned with state academic standards, NASPE, and STEM frameworks.
the six principles
Every workshop is designed around six developmental priorities:
- Physical health — building strong bodies through age-appropriate movement
- Active learning — knowledge through doing
- Social & emotional development — cooperation, confidence, emotional regulation
- Language & communication — STEM vocabulary, following instruction
- Cognitive development — pattern recognition, problem-solving, memory retention
- Motor development — gross and fine motor skills appropriate to age
WHAT KIDS GAIN
By the end of a Sport Academy term, children typically demonstrate measurable gains in:
- Following multi-step instructions
- Working in cooperative groups
- Recognizing numbers, shapes, and patterns at kindergarten-entry level
- Confidence in trying new physical activities
- Self-regulation and turn-taking
